New Leaders is pleased to welcome the Panache Community Steelband to
Muse 08 Carnivale.

Panache members are as mixed a group as you could imagine - male and female, young and old, Canadian-born and naturalized Canadian - reflecting the racial and ethnic diversity of the GTA. Panache performs at charity functions, weddings, picnics, schools and local churches.

The Panache Community Steel Band is sponsored by the Naparima Alumni Association of Canada, Toronto Unit (NAAC). The band is a product of the community-based steelpan classes that NAAC offers at West Humber Collegiate Institute in Rexdale.

New Leaders is also fortunate to have Orchestra Copacabana to Muse 08 Carnivale.

Affiliated with the Sheraton Cadwell Group of Music Professionals (www.sheratoncadwell.com), Orchestra Copacabana (www.atthecopa.ca) has an international cast of artists from Canada, the United Kingdom, USA, South America, Europe, Japan and Asia.

Entertaining heads of state, diplomats, dignitaries, VIPs and audiences in the thousands, its primary mandate is to help alleviate poverty in less developed communities outside Canada.

Net proceeds from performances and CD sales are donated to international agencies such as UNICEF, World Vision, Oxfam, CARE, Doctors Without Borders and the Red Cross through the Global Poverty Relief Foundation (www.gprf.net) for disaster and poverty relief programs.

To date, their artists have helped to raise over $1 million for charitable and humanitarian projects.

Muse 08 Carnivale will feature performances by the critically acclaimed Evolution Dance Studio, whose samba team will bring to life the colour, the passion and the artistry of one of Brazil’s most celebrated musical exports.
