Specializing in contemporary Canadian art, Darren Alexander has been a fine art consultant and art dealer for the past 15 years. In 1996, Mr. Alexander became the managing partner in the Tatar Alexander Gallery, a Toronto-based fine art gallery consulting both privately and corporately on an international level. Since 2004, he has worked as a private art consultant as the principal of Darren Alexander Fine Art and Design.
Throughout his career, Mr. Alexander has lent his arts and communications expertise to the arts community as a founder of CONTACT-Toronto’s Festival of Photography, a month-long, city-wide celebration of photography comprised of exhibitions, special events and education - now considered the largest photography event in the world. In addition, Mr. Alexander was the co-chair of Canada’s largest charitable auction of contemporary Canadian art benefiting the Casey House Foundation from 2002 - 2004. He has also been instrumental in starting and supporting new arts event such as SNAP!, a community-based photography competition and fundraiser.
Mr. Alexander has been successful in creating partnerships between the corporate world and the arts community in the form of sponsorships, special events and as part of the National Communications Committee for the Art Dealers Association of Canada.
